Anybody want to help a literacy tutor?
I am a literacy tutor for a third grade girl. She is very smart. The reason she is in this literacy tutoring program is not that she is stupid. For example, the girl can pronounce the word "madamoiselle" almost perfectly (except for that she pronounces "oi" like "oye")! But no matter how many times she comes across the word "pupil", for example, she always says "PUP-il" not "PYOO-il". This makes sense because it looks like it should be pronounced "pup" but it's not. She can obviously comprehend big words, she just has problems understanding the different sounds. Does anybody know any creative, fun activities, games, learning strategies to help teach her these sounds? Somebody with experience? Thanks!!!!
make her say the word correctly 10 times over and over.this will indelibly imprint it on her brain, and experience will do the rest.
