Working with kids: Tips for teenagers?

Well, I guess I should summarize my first situation. Since its summer vacation, my friends and I found a volunteer to do. Our local library has this adolescent organization where teens work with other, younger children organize and implement works to the public. We plan, organize, act and display these works at the theater school and such. Now, my friends and I are excited about this agape as we love acting and that counts as volunteer work for us. (You know, it has to go into groups like the National Honor Society.) Anyway, we to have to audition, teach and instruct the younger children. These children are anywhere from kindergarten to sixth grade. We would really appreciate any advice and tips for working with younger children, especially if you have experience. Thanks in advance!

First, well for you! Try to make it fun, but play is not too complicated. Also, I would suggest dividing the parties so it's a bit like, so not all "got a better part then me!" trouble. When they do a good job, make sure they know it. See if you can get some fun costumes or accessories, many children like to dress up. Try thrift stores and be creative to not break the bank. Also, try to keep it short rehersals. The more time are, the less fun it is, and try to finish on a high note. Maybe if allowed in the end, give everyone in the game ice cream or candy for a job well done. Good luck and enjoy!
