teaching salaries by state 2008
Help from Alabama teachers! PLEASE!!!!!!!!?

I am looking into teaching in AL in 2008-2009. I am seeking National Board Certification but in case I do not make it I have looked into the other options for alternative certification. It looks like I am ok since I have a professional certificate from another state but I might still have to test. Anyone know of specifics? I have read the paperwork and I am still unclear.
Also, looking at the salary schedules- if I am a high school teacher in a county, how do I know if I am a 9 month or 10 month employee? In Fl- I work from Preplanning (August) to post-planning (May) so I guess that makes me 10 month? I work 196 days. Any help on this is appreciated. I am looking at salary schedules trying to decide on Mobile or Baldwin County. If you have a preference please share! I will have had 5 years experience by then in Social Studies 9-12 teaching World Geo, World Hist, Psych, Am. Govt, and Economics.

Recap ?s: Specifics for certification? 9 or 10 month employee? Mobile or Baldwin county?

Hi! I teach in Alabama. Most all teachers are on a so called 9 month schedule even if you teach Aug. to May which is 10 months. In my county, we have 9 month schedules for teachers, 10 month schedules for coaches, and 12 month schedules for administrators. You will have to take and pass the Praxis test to be liscensed in Alabama if you do not pass your National Cerificaiton (good luck :) ) I believe that both Mobile and Baldwin counties have some of our better schools. I have been to conferences down that way and the teachers are very happy. Here we usually work a 187 day school year from Aug to May. Each county is slightly different, but the state mandates at least 187 days.

Strike Day - 22nd May, 2008.
