Good morning all. Can anyone suggest a good approach?
to beginners Chemistry? My son is seven and he is in 3rd grade. He has a real liking to chemistry and wants to learn all about it.
Can anyone give me some ideas on how to work with him on a beginners level as well as some experiments we can do at home?
I home school him.
We have made volcanoes by clay and the diet coke bottle with mentoes. We have made putty, play dough, and he loves to mix soaps and shampoos and conditioners to see which will give the "best result". So I need some creative and fun ways to teach him about Chemistry.
He is a bit ahead of himself so I'm not worried about him being intimidated by the material I'm just not sure on how to level it down for him without being to in dept.
He loves rocks as well and we have done several experiments on minerals and stones. He is learning the periodic table (he is on silver right now and that is the beginning of that.)
So ideas would be awesome!
Thank you!
You need to get a book at a good book store on Kitchen Chemistry, so that you can use familiar materials and see reactions.
Begin with the difference between physical and chemical reactions.
