At what age should one begin teaching small children good manners?
Of course, one can model good manners to babies. But what age, for example, should I expect my children to eat with their mouths closed? Thanks.
I would say by about age 3 they are able to follow instructions and at that age they also want to show they can do things. Younger than that they might get frustrated --- but as early as you can --- and you are right, modeling behavior is part of it.
Get them used to "please", "thank you", and "you're welcome" when they are learning to talk.
