Where the artists of New York City go when they tire of the hustle and bustle?
Where can a poet, singer, actor, singer and budding composer, and educator to go - to enjoy their work and the quiet company of other artists and thinkers who have not lost their spark or soul? As an artist and educator, I love New York. But at the end of the day, always will crave community. At 46, I continue to explore my art, and to teach. But I also want slow down, leaned back and enjoy the good company of people who care about each other beyond the current project, show, or concert. I love the moon over Manhattan, but I miss the sea, lakes, mountains, etc. Suggestions? Thanks for the suggestions so far. Btw, do not have to be in the state of New York. In another post last night, an S / A user suggested Taos, New Mexico. I'm def. willing to move if I can find that the combination of art, community, and a beautiful natural landscape.
I live in Asheville, North Carolina. I think I would find to their liking. Smaller city, but enough of culture and free thinkers. And the mountains are beautiful. And we are sufficiently above sea level to avoid the onset of melting ice caps.
