Japanese Kanji need a book that lists the origin of the meaning of kanji and pronunciation?
I want to buy a Japanese book taught these three things. I'm learning Japanese so you should focus on most often in reading. Do you know the name of a book like this?
Everyone has their personal preferences. My favorite book is "Read Japanese Today" by Len Walsh. This book gives a little information about the origin of each kanji, and the meaning and pronunciation. The book covers 400 kanji, and is unique in that it is an easy to digest format. Because it is easy to read, this makes it a great book, addition to his regular textbooks and reference books. I have to admit, the book is a bit corny, but it works for me. http://books.google.ca/books?id=c_SjTK1Z_tcC&printsec=frontcover&dq=Read+Japanese+Today Some people like Henshall's book "Guide to remember Japanese characters, but for the most advanced kanji I think I'm better if I come with my own way to remember each kanji. Walsh's book, I got a good start on the simple kanji, and went from there.
