About teaching abroad... let's say asia ?
Well, I dream of living in Asia for a while, specially Japan, unfurtunately for this purpose I'm not a native english speaker, therefore I'm thinking of taking TESOL, I wanna know if that would work guys, bcz I dont wanna waste my time and come back home to teach at the local berlitz
I teach in Hong Kong and am a native speaker. I can tell you here that language schools tend to only go for native speakers. At the universities they do employ Chinese people to teach English but these people all have masters degrees and/or PhDs.
In Japan you might get a position teaching English if you are western looking - they go for that far more than another Asian or African (racist, I know). You might be able to get into a school in Japan if you tell them you were born in, say Italy, but grew up in England.
One of the best courses to take is CELTA. To pass it/get onto it, you need a very good level of English - say IELTS level 7/8.
