Chemistry Webassign troubles..?
I already have the answers to A and B, but I don't know about C and D. My chemistry teacher seems to think that we should automatically know everything without him actually teaching it to us.
a) What is the principal quantum number?
(b) How is it symbolized?
(c) What are shells?
(d) How does n relate to the number of orbitals per main energy level and the number of electrons allowed per main energy level?
i don't get wat u mean in D but i can answer C:
shells are the orbits of electrons in an atom. (the path of electrons in atoms) it holds up electrons in the following manner - 2,8,18*,32
* the 18 is usually filled up to 8 electrons.
