can you weigh UK coins on household scales?
can this be done? example: how much does 20 £1 coins weigh?
the reason i'm asking is because i've searched for the info on the web but all i get is expensive coin counting scales and teaching children how to count money.
i know it's fairly failsafe to count coins by hand, but i work for a smallish charity and you can imagine the amount of change that get donated to us and i was wondering if there was an easier way to count it.
i suppose i should have been more accurate, when i said household scales i meant something like digital kitchen scales.
we do have a coin sorter, which was a cheap one and isn't very accurate. and sometimes we use a cash box when were doing a fund raising event so the coins are already sorted.
You can buy machines that will sort and count the coins for you. A household scale will not work because it is not accurate enough, especially when weighing something that doesn't weigh a whole lot.
