I need an activity or game teaching the concepts of volume / capacity of grade 1-2 children?
Hi guys, my destiny forces me to invent a game math or activity for children in grades 1 to 2. the game does not need to have official measurements, just something that children can understand the concepts initial volume. so no need for formal action. for example, metric units or whatever. I have been racking their brains for ideas and have received some suggestions, such as container and sand, but I'd like some other ideas. Thanks:)
My suggestion is similar to yours, but for that age group (6-7ish?) I would use edible materials. For example, allow children to pour juice into paper cups, while explaining the concept of volume. If fluid using is too complicated then maybe you can replace cereals. I remember that age and it helped me to understand: a bowl w / cereal, and asked if the container was full. I answered yes, my teacher then proceeded to top off the cup with milk and said if the container is full, why no room for milk? At the time of the explosion of my mind 6 years old! Hope that helps!
