teaching basic addition facts
I need help teaching my sister math?

My little sister is 10 and in 5th grade, and I want to help her learn her math facts cold. She's extremely smart, but she's really lazy and would rather spend her time watching TV, or playing on the computer than learning (but who wouldn't?) She still doesn't even know her basic addition facts so help with her 9 addition table, and all multiplication except for 0, 1, 2, 5 please! I've thought of some things, but there are only so many ideas one person can come up with. It has to be fun. I made up lyrics to her favorite song for 6 times table and she learned that. So, help please?

One way that you could try to improve basic addition, subtraction, division and multiplication is by using the clock. Tell her that dinner is in 15 divided by 3 minutes, and it'll be up to her to figure out when that is. Or say that you have to be somewhere in 47 minus 8 minutes. Get the idea?

Hope this helps!
