tips teaching kids read
Moms For home schooling! plz read!?

My husband and I are thinking seriously about home-school our daughter the year comes. The school is here where I live are terrible. The barley passed the academic requirements for a public school (read in the newspaper lol) there are a lot of drugs, teenage pregnancy. There are girls in (secondary) who are pregnant. I am very embarrassed to let my children attend this school. I'm thinking put them in a school about 11 miles from here, but their is a long waiting list I do not know if I can! Anyway, I was wanting tips and advice for parents who home school children there youth? What program did you use? How to listen to your child? I just want to be able to teach and keep insurance. I'll put it in activities such as ballet, gymnastics, karate, etc to be exposed to other children. If you have any tips or advice. I love to hear or simply the experience had taught his son Younge!

Middle schools can be quite unpleasant in those days. I had a friend I spoke to one in which children were getting pregnant on purpose in order to join any club official not the children had begun. On the home education, the programs vary greatly. Personally, we used a mixture of things. Some things we've designed - you do not need textbooks for a lot of things, especially with all the major materials in the public library. We have used some textbooks purchased in sales curricula used or even got a little free from the school district (who do not want more than that can still be used). Worldbook.com has lists many "typical course of study" for each grade to give you an idea of the kinds of things you might want to work with your child in a particular grade level. Or you can buy all sorts of expensive, pre-packaged curriculum, but carefully. I've heard plenty of stories of homeschoolers spending much money on programs that actually ended up not using for anything. How to listen your child? In the same way that your child listens to anything else to say or do, I guess. I found that girls hear quite easily, especially when away from negative peer pressure so prevalent in schools. Children are a little harder. I discovered that my oldest son had to tell sometimes I report his actions to the school district, and I would write something in your portfolio - the fear of some larger entity, unknown knowledge of his misconduct has been very helpful in the early days, but I do not usually have trouble getting to learn and who loves to learn a lot and I take much of their current interests. I would strongly suggest trying find a homeschool support group in your area. You may need to try several to find one that is a good fit for you, but can be invaluable. Through our own, I have made friends (as children), we have been involved in many activities and events, come and see what others are using materials and share ideas, make some co-op classes together, learned about the laws of local home education and ways to deal with them more efficiently, etc. Try searching online for a group or ask at your public library - librarians often know homeschoolers as well, or ask your school district. Good luck.
