I have met so many different kinds of people that stereotypically do not mix. I just find it amazing how when you have a passion for something it can help you to meet all different kinds of people.

Ethnic Groups Embrace Commonalities And Overcome Prejudice
Ethnic groups are usually lumped together in a category called “race”. Racial differences and intolerances between ethnic groups hinder our society on a daily basis. In order for these racial differences and intolerances to be stopped and for peace between ethnic groups to be seen and appreciated we must come to a place where we understand our differences, bridge our divisions and celebrate our commonalities. This is perhaps easier said than done. In today's society we are perhaps more race intolerant than we may realize.
In order to overcome the racial challenges and divisions that take place in our society between different ethnic groups such as African-American, Asian, Hispanic, Native Americans, and Caucasians ( to name just a few of the diverse races of America) we must choose to lay down our predisposition to poor racial based judgments and pick up the celebration of our commonalities. Poor judgments are often based on the very lies and misconceptions have led this nation and others to be torn apart. When we categorize others based on their race, sex, or culture we are essentially creating rifts and walls that hinder our society.
Ethnic prejudice must be purposely removed from our thinking in order to see any change in our behavior. Our children must be given the freedom to love one another and care for one another based on commonalities rather than ethnic race. A truly healthy future for our nation is dependent on our ability to heal from the ethnic hatred that has been carelessly flaunted in our country. Ethnic differences and intolerances must be an addressed through an understanding of differences and a bridging of divisions and as this takes place a celebration of commonalities will also take place.
The differences between ethnic groups or races can be not only tolerated but accepted. This is often seen in small children. They recognize the differences between one another’s skin color and clothing but they choose to primarily acknowledge their commonalities. That is why children of different ethnic groups are able to play together and enjoy each other's company over the use of a ball or a doll. As they enjoy this commonality together their different speech or mannerisms are easily appreciated and these differences even appear unimportant as they focus on the commonality of the baby doll. This is also true in the workplace for adults. It is easy for adults of different ethnic groups and races to work together on the same project and achieve success as they focus on a common project and as they celebrate one another's commonalities.
Focusing on ethnic commonalities will break ethnic intolerances and hatreds. We can bridge racial differences and divisions by focusing on commonalities. We can change the social dynamics of our culture by accepting the ethnic differences and appreciating the strengths and abilities of each other. The strengths and differences can then be used to meet common goals.
