Primary Care Behavior Management in Alzheimers Disease.

What can I do to improve my CV during pediatric residency if going into primary care?

I'm a second year resident at a university pediatrics program in NY and looking to stay in the area as either a member of a private group, hospitalist, or urgent care pediatrician. And if I do research to improve my CV will that make employers think I'll do research for them - because I'm actually not interested in research. Thanks!

I am a managing partner at a small practice.
For private practice primary care peds, research experience is not very important.

Experience is most important to physician employers, but they accept the fact that you won't have any as a new physician.
Instead, you bring energy, skill and (most important) potential for growth.

Therefore, focus on getting good references from faculty in the area you intend to pursue (hospitalist, urgent care or private practice).

Ask your references from a private practice rotation to comment on your understanding of insurance, managed care, billing/coding and your efficiency (seeing many patients in a reasonable time). These are important to private employers.

Gold-plated references are many times more valuable than research experience on the CV of a future pediatrician.
Good luck.

Primary Care

The importance of a primary care physician

Choosing a primary care physician (PCP) for their health care needs is essential to coordinate the health care system. A PCP is usually one of the following types of medical providers: pediatricians, gynecologists general internists Obstetrics / or doctor.

Many Americans travel the U.S. health care system, without a relationship with a primary care physician. Do not choose a PCP is similar to fishing without a line. You have a fishing rod, but no way to get the bait water. With the experience of your PCP fishing will be more complete, because the fishing rod, line, bait and fishermen work together.

Of course, we can find other suppliers in our own rendezvous with these providers to seek treatment for something that your PCP can not be trained, but we? However, PCP is your ticket to the continued provision of health care. CFP keep your medical records and be able to provide these documents refer you to a specialist to see.

Your PCP should be aware of all the vitamins, prescription drugs and other treatments you receive, so that these medical interactions are coordinated with your PCP is the prescription or who is your PCP refers to treatment.

In addition, your PCP will coordinate your hospital medical procedures or elective contact you if admitted to the hospital. In short, your PCP coordinates your care. Your PCP will prescribe medication, do physical examinations, treatments and advice and help with referrals to doctors specialists who are best suited to help with medical needs beyond the scope of the CFP.

Many people do not have a relationship with PCP. Those who have not developed a relationship with a CFP should seek references from family, colleagues Working online or by a hospital local treating physician.

Do you want someone who knows the medical community and provide advice where to go for medical care beyond experience. Your PCP help you with any medical problem that you need if you ask. So if you have not chosen PCP is now the right any time to do so. Contact people who work with or family members who live nearby to get information about your PCP is so you can consider that person, especially if you do not PCP, a credit now!
