How much should I charge for tutoring?
I'm thinking of offering my services as an individual tutor during the summer to make extra cash. I have an hourly rate that I used before but I wonder what is a reasonable amount to charge per hour.
I live in New York. In terms of qualifications: NY teaching certification, four years as a special ed teacher in difficult schools, M.S. in education with honors, prior tutoring experience. I can teach in any subject area at any level, except for advanced level Math and Science (like Calculus, Physics, etc.) I also have materials to use and knowledge of New York standards, learning goals, and curriculum at many grade levels levels. I can also teach reading from the ground up and have done it successfully several times. What is a reasonable going rate? Is $40-50 an hour too much?
I always charged about 25 per hour in the past.
