Air Force questions....?

Im thinking of joining the air force, but i have numerous questions and my recruiter isnt opened now.

1. Will my spouse get her school paid for and does the on base school have a teaching education program?

2. Does the air force still have the "buddy system" and how does it work exactly?

3. When do I know where I will be stationed and what job I will get? Is it before I go to boot camp or while Im at boot camp?

4. Is there a website where I can find out how long training takes for jobs? Like pharmacy apprentice, HVAC, diagnostic imaging apprentice and heavy equipment operator.

Thank you!
I tried google

1. No the AF will not pay for your spouse's education. There are many grants available to spouses. You can go the the education on base and they will tell you everything you wife can qualify for. There is lots of money out there for military spouses. It just has to be applied for. There is no "base" school. Most people take classes at local colleges and Universities or online. This can be difficult since every college is different in regards to transferring credits. She may lose credit hours and she may not. Just depends ont he school. The AF is starting a new pilot program for spouses, where they give the spoouse $3,000 a year for 2 years to earn a degree in certain portable careers (education is one of them). Unflortunately only EIGHT AF bases are participating in this pilot programs. The following link can give you more info about the program.

http://www.military.com/spouse/cf/0,,cf_CAA_111407,00.

click on Military spouse career center and then where it says military spouse education accounts. All the info is there for you.

2. Yes, the AF still has the buddy system. But like the previous poster said, just Basic and Tech together..the rest is up to the AF.

3. Once they assign you a job, they will give you a list of locations that you can go to. This can happen at MEPS or Basic. You can choose up to 5 bases and that is called your "dream sheet". Choose wisely. You will more than likely be at the base they send you to for your entire enlistment. The AF is moving people about every 5 years so don't put down anywhere you don't really want to be at.

4. I wish I knew the answer to the website question. I really don't know but your recruiter should be able to point you int he right direction. I'm sure that another poster will answer this correctly.
