Can I earn my teaching credential online while living and teaching abroad?
I am a U.S. citizen who is living and teaching English abroad. I would like to get my elementary multiple subject certification to teach in the States. Is it possible to complete a degree program online and use my teaching here as experience in the classroom? If anyone knows some links to possible programs, that would be very helpful. Thank you!
There is a program through Drexel University (Philadelphia, Pa) that has a Post-Bachelor's Teaching Certificate that you can do online in Elementary Education that will satisfy teaching license for the state of PA (after completion I guess you'd have to consult your home state to see about transferring license). They also have an online TESL add-on that I think can be done with the the Elementary Education cert.. The number of courses vary according to the number of prerequisites you may have to fulfill (which I'm sure are determined by any Education classes you took as an undergraduate). I had some financial setbacks at the time, but it seems pretty reasonable, especially since you can get it done in a much shorter time compared to an undergrad Education program. Hope this can help!
