If in our free society gender roles are because of social conditioning rather than an expression of the?
differences between men and women, how come there are areas where gender gaps not only closed but reversed when women started to enter the workforce in greater numbers and how come there are some women who do quite well in male dominated fields having the potential ?
What is this invisible force that fine tunes gender roles to such a degree, that in some areas gender gaps not only closed, but reversed, such as teaching and on the other hand in other areas female participation did not reach parity and became stagnant in growth, such as the hard science fields ?
In Israel said disparities persist, who told you they do not ?

In some societies there isn't a gender gap in some fields. For example, in Israel, there are just as many women as men in the high tech fields / computer fields. In America, women in the high tech / computer fields are few and far between. Having raised 4 sons I saw them gravitate to certain toys even though I bought toys that were intended for the opposite gender. I think some gender traits are innate while others are societal.
