Why do people look down on those who work in retail and fast food?
If anything, those yuppies should be looking up to me for the simple fact that I, a mature, responsible, hard-working individual is paying her OWN way through a Bachelor's degree in Biology. What baffles me the most is the fact that these people don't seem to have any amount of common sense of the way the world works, as though education and nice cars drop from the sky. For example, I'm asking you if you want fries with that because (you f'cking moron) my boss told me to upsell. To make the company more money. Because it's retail, and no one actually cares if you'll enjoy those fries or not. Cumulatively, the more people buy those fries, the more money comes rolling in. Your Philosophy and Women's Lit degrees didn't teach you this? Shucks. Anyone else have any pet peeves regarding these "lowly" jobs some of you may have worked or are working when it came to other people's attitudes?
There are survivors and there are those who do not survive or ask mommy and daddy for money.
You are a survivor. Let those others say or do as they want to and do not let it get you down.
It is like around here. People here would rather be on welfare or cry and complain about no job, but when bringing up the fast food places or even the farmers who have work to be done in the spring they say oh no way I can not do that. Granite those with kids to feed may have to get two of these kinds of jobs.
I was in your shoes when I had my oldest baby, I had to have surgery on my hand but could not afford to be off work and my job would not let me work out of surgery so I went to the local cutting horse show and mucked stalls for cash money. Did I get put down, you bet I did!! Did I have rent and a baby to feed while I was recovering from surgery, yes! Was I mooching from welfare NO.
You are a survivor, enough said. Be proud of yourself!
